Terms of Service
Last updated September 18, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Keepsies (the “Service”). By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. What the Service is
Keepsies is a matchmaking and scorekeeping tool for head-to-head games of skill (currently chess and mancala/Kalah). Players agree on a stake before a game. The Service records the result and keeps a ledger of what players have agreed to pay one another.
Keepsies does not hold, transfer, or process money. Settlement happens directly between players, outside the Service. Keepsies is not a party to any wager, does not take a share of any stake, and does not guarantee that any player will pay.
2. Games of skill only
Every game offered is a game of skill with no element of chance: complete information, no dice, no cards, no random events. We do not offer, and you may not use the Service for, games of chance.
3. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be physically located in a jurisdiction where playing skill games for a prize is lawful.
- The Service is not available to residents of, or players located in: Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Louisiana, Montana, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee.
- One account per person. Accurate information is required.
You are responsible for knowing whether the Service is lawful where you are.
4. Fair play
You agree not to:
- use chess engines, solvers, or any outside assistance during a game;
- share an account, play on someone else's behalf, or collude with an opponent;
- interfere with the Service, other players, or the integrity of results.
We may investigate reports, void results, reverse ledger entries, and suspend or close accounts at our discretion when we believe these rules were broken.
5. Settlement between players
Stakes are agreements between players. The ledger shows what each player has said they owe or have paid; it is a record, not a payment system. A payment is marked settled only when the receiving player confirms it. Disputes about payment are between the players involved. Keepsies is not responsible for unpaid stakes.
6. Trust tiers and deadlines
To protect players who settle honestly, the Service assigns each account a trust tier based on confirmed settlements. Tiers limit the maximum stake you can play for. While a loss is unsettled, or a payment claim to you is unanswered, you may only play the player involved; games with anyone else are locked until it is resolved. Your tier and on-time rate are shown to other players.
7. Your account
Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account. We may close accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose legal or safety risk.
8. No warranty; limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Keepsies and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any amount owed between players. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to $100.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the new Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
